Meet our Directors!
Kiersten Ek
Co-President
My name is Kiersten Ek and I am the Co-President of LIPSS this year. I am currently in my fourth year of the Collaborative Nursing Program at Lakehead University. LIPSS is important to me because inter-professional collaboration is an essential part of holistic care. It is rare that students get the opportunity to collaborate with other health care professionals before beginning their career. LIPSS provides the opportunity for students of different health care fields to come together and learn about each others roles before having to enter the professional field. My dream job is a nurse practitioner!

Madeline Douglas

Hello, my name is Madeline Douglas and I am the Director of Communications for LIPSS. I am currently in my fourth year of Psychology. I got involved with LIPSS because developing teamwork and problem-solving skills through inter-professional practice is essential for improving patient care. LIPSS is important to me because it facilitates collaboration between students from multiple faculties and creates valuable insight into issues and ideas from the perspective of different healthcare fields. My dream job is a lawyer working in health law!
Lyndon Swick
Director of Finance
My name is Lyndon Swick and I am the Director of Finance for LIPSS. I am currently in my second year of my Masters of Science in Chemistry. I am involved in LIPSS since the goal of the club (interprofessional collaboration) is very interesting and relevant in todays health care system. It helps me to broaden my own skillset and teach others. My dream job is a family physician in my home town!
Talia Strickland
Director of Internal
My name is Talia Strickland and I am the Director of Internal for LIPPS. I am currently in my fourth year of Psychology. I got involved with LIPSS because I attended the inter-professional panel period that LIPSS hosted last school year and decided that the club was right up my alley! Additionally, I love making new friends that have similar interests. A fun fact about myself is I have been skydiving!
Jonas Olsen
Director of Social
My name is Jonas Olsen and I am the Director of Social for LIPSS this year. I am currently in my fourth year of an HBSc in Biology and Chemistry. I am involved with LIPSS so I can develop inter-professional relationships with individuals in other faculties, who I otherwise may not interact with in a professional setting during my time at Lakehead. This is important to me because in my future career, there is a strong chance I will be interacting with many individuals in different professions, so having this kind of experience will be extremely valuable. Furthermore, developing relationships with people in different fields aids me in gaining unique perspectives I may not otherwise be exposed to; these perspectives could prove to be useful assets in my future career. My dream job is to work in the field of medicinal chemistry.
