About Us

Promoting interprofessional practice among learners in order to foster collaborative, holistic, patient-centered care

Who Are We?

We are a group of students from a variety of health disciplines at Lakehead University, who seek to promote interprofessional education and practice. LIPSS was formed in 2013 and is a Chapter of the National Health Science Student’s Society . Students involved include Nursing, Social Work, Kinesiology, Gerontology, Psychology, Law, Education (Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences of Lakehead University), Medicine, Physician Assistant, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Dietetic Internship (Northern Ontario School of Medicine – NOSM), we hope to involve students from RPN, ECE, SSW, Paramedics, XRay Technician in the future (Confederation College), as well as Massage Therapy and PSW (Everest College).

 

Our Overall Objectives:

  1.  To create an interprofessional environment among learners in Thunder Bay that enhances their ability to participate in collaborative and holistic, person-centred care.
  2. To develop and maintain partnerships with NOSM and ConCollege to extend our collaboration opportunities to community partners.
  3. To represent Lakehead at the National level (ie. at annual NaHSSA conference, NICHE conference, etc.) through participation and research.

 

How Will We Accomplish These?

Link learners from diverse disciplines in academic and social events, such as:

o SimSeries (throughout fall and winter)

o IPE-related Social Events (throughout fall and winter)

o SimChallenge (March 2019)

o IPE Week March 2019
